There's a special kind of magic settling over Camden as the winter frost finally breaks. As we settle into our first full year at the Captain Swift Inn, we’re quickly learning that this town doesn’t just have "seasons"—it has traditions.
The 2026 calendar is already filling up with the events that make our corner of Midcoast Maine so special. Whether you’re a maritime enthusiast, a lover of live music or just someone in search of the perfect pumpkin-shaped boat (yes, really), here is what we’re counting down to this year.
Summer: Windjammers and Village Melodies
Summer in Camden is defined by the salt air and the rhythmic sound of the rigging in the harbor.
-
Jazz in June (June 12–14, 2026): For three days, the town breathes to a jazz beat. From free daytime performances on the Village Green to headliners like the John Scofield Trio at the Camden Opera House, it’s the ultimate kick-off to the season.
-
The Solstice Sunrise (June 21, 2026): We think there’s no better way to welcome the longest day of the year than on a sunrise sail through the islands of Penobscot Bay with the Maine Windjammer Association.
-
The Great Schooner Race (July 3, 2026): Watch North America’s largest fleet of traditional tall ships maneuver through the harbor. It’s a maritime sight that feels like stepping back 100 years in time.
-
North Atlantic Blues Festival (July 11–12, 2026): Just down the road in Rockland, this is one of the most prestigious blues festivals on the East Coast. Experience world-class performers overlooking the harbor, and don't miss the famous Saturday night "Club Crawl" on Main Street.
-
The Camden Classics Cup (July 23–25, 2026): For three days, the harbor becomes a living museum during this premier vintage yacht regatta. It’s the perfect time to grab a coffee and stroll the waterfront.
-
The 79th Annual Maine Lobster Festival (July 29 – August 2, 2026): This iconic five-day event in Rockland is a must. From the Great International Lobster Crate Race to fresh lobster dinners and a massive parade, it’s the ultimate celebration of Maine's maritime heritage.
Fall: Harvests and High Vantage Points
When the air turns crisp, the pace in Camden doesn’t slow down—it just gets more colorful.
-
Camden Windjammer Festival (September 4–5, 2026): Labor Day weekend is our town’s biggest party! Don't miss the Parade of Sail and the legendary lobster crate races in the harbor.
-
Maine Open Lighthouse Day (September 12, 2026): For one day only, the historic beacons of the coast open their doors for public tours. It's a rare chance to see the Maine coast from a new perspective.
-
Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta (October 10–12, 2026): We’ll wrap up the peak foliage season with this famous event. There is nothing quite like watching giant, hollowed-out pumpkins transformed into motorboats for a race like no other.
2026 is shaping up to be a year to remember in Midcoast Maine. We would love to be your home base in downtown Camden.
